We arrived at the hotel at about 8 p.m. on Jan. 10. After assigning the group into teams, we set up
the surveillance system which featured 5 infrared cameras. Two cameras were set up on the
second floor, two in rooms, one in the hall. On the third floor, the last two cameras were set up in
rooms. In the room where a child has reportedly been seen, Janelle set up a control object, a
small porcelain doll placed on a piece of tape in full view of the surveillance camera.
By 8:30 p.m., the lights were turned out and the investigation began. The teams were assigned to

separate floors and at the
appointed time, went to their
assignments. Charlotte stayed at
the monitoring post on the second
floor watching the cameras.
No readings out of the ordinary on
the meters were reported. Jerry
however, did report feeling ill
suddenly. The teams covered each
room of the hotel and some
members reported feeling uneasy
in a room on the third floor at the
north side of the hotel. One
member did not want to be in the
room.
Both teams conducted EVP
sessions and by 10 p.m. Charlotte
joined Henry and they began to
explore the third floor. In a room
on the south side, Henry,
Charlotte, Curtis and Dustin conducted an EVP session. Suddenly the
temperature in the room rose 10 degrees and the air
seemed to thicken. Curtis reported that the warm
temperature seemed to move around the room.
At 11:15 p.m., team members began to wrap up and Henry,
Charlotte, Chrystal, Dustin and Sabrina remained in the
building. Henry and Dustin decided to go into a room on the
second floor and conduct an EVP session. Charlotte and
Chrystal remained in the hall sitting. Sabrina went downstairs
and outside to smoke.
As Henry and Dustin conducted their session, at about 11:20,
Charlotte and Chrystal heard footsteps on the wooden floor
below, like someone walking in high heels. They wondered
aloud if it was Sabrina but a minute later, they heard the
downstairs door open and clearly heard Sabrina’s footsteps.
11:35 p.m.-lights on. Investigation concluded.

The historic St George Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel is a center piece in the quaint village of Volcano, California, the gem of the Motherlode.
The first two hotels that stood on this site, Eureka (1853), Empire (1859) were destroyed by fire. The current Hotel was built in 1862. It is a 3-story brick building with 14-inch thick walls to make it more fireproof than the 2 previous structures. The Hotel was built by B.F. George and named the St. George to “thwart the demonic Fire Dragon”. The Hotel was known in the late 1800’s as the best Hotel in the County.

Sabrina and John investigate the Angels Camp room.
The St. George Hotel is a beautiful
place with ornate woodwork, carpets
and furniture.
The investigation lasted a little over
3 hours and while some
investigators physically experienced
some sensations, those could not
be explained. The meters did not
register any abnormal levels,
however in one room, the
temperature did fluctuate by 10
degrees.
We did capture on digital camera
what appears to be a moving orb over a couch in one of the rooms. The DVR, in that same room
picked up what appeared to be a fog sitting in the same area as the orb. The footage will soon be
placed on this site.
Charlotte and Chrystal did hear the footsteps on the first floor.
The team also captured several EVP’s in the hotel and although we as a team utilize scientific theory
when investigating, we will, at times allow a sensitive to join us.
It is the opinion of the California Haunts team that this hotel does have some strange occurrences.
Whether they are paranormal is up to interpretation.
