The investigation began at about 8:30 p.m. in the mine shaft area of the building. Henry and John
took emf and trifield readings while Chrystal and Charlotte took photos. Henry and John decided to
go further into the shaft while Chrystal, Charlotte and Curtis stayed in the alcove area along the

John Pearson. When the land was purchased it had a 50 foot mineshaft which extended into the
mountainside.
Known as Pearson's Soda works, the building was used as a store. He also made his own soda on
the premises. The second story, now being used as a bar area and a class room was added in 1897
and used for bottling.
The first Coca Cola bottling franchise was opned in the building in 1934.
In 1972, the building was purchased by Roger Douvres and turned into an ic cream fountain. The
upper area was used as a dining room.
In 1985,the building made the list of Historic Places.
With a storied history, it is no wonder that a building that served as a theater, antique store, coffee
house, music store and bookstore just might have some legnds attached to it.
One of the business's owners Chris Cole has said she has head rumors of what goes on in the
building while one employee said that out of the corner of his eye he will see a man in the upstairs
bar area. The employee describes the man as having long hair and a long beard. The man also wears
a flannel shirt. The same employee also said he gets spooked when he is the last one to close the
building for the night. There is also the rumor that the building contains a phantom kitten.

Chrystal reported feeling a cold spot on her neck and
shoulders. Trifield and emf meter needles did not move.
Chrystal, our sensitive for the evening, reported seeing a
bearded, grizzled man in the area. She also reported that he

bowels of the shaft and do a ghost watch. During their time
in the shaft , they did an EVP session. At the same time,
Chrystal and Charlotte did a session as well. After about 30
minutes, John and Henry decided to go into the upstairs

reported hearing shuffling or footsteps coming toward him
as he stood behind the darkened bar. Charlotte, Chrystal
and Curtis joined them on the second floor and Curtis
