There appears to be some confusion in the metaphysical community regarding Psychometry, which is the ability
to read the history of certain objects by holding the associated object in your hand, and picking up messages and
various vibrations. The process to read uses many empirical senses. Psychometric impressions may come in the
form of emotions, sounds, scents, tastes or images and the reader may visualize images that can appear as
three-dimensional or one-dimensional pictures and the reader can usually pick up key historic points or
associations with the object. Meta physicians often claim that by using personal objects rich in history will also give
the reader more clarity in the vision. Some metaphysicians state that objects that emit electromagnetic energy
usually work the best for psychometry.
Joseph R. Buchanan an American Professor of physiology in 1842 started to
do experiments with psychometry and gave the practice recognition. He did
much of his research and testing with his students to identify and name
specific drugs simply by holding the unmarked vials. Interestingly, he
theorized that many objects contained soul properties, such as cells and all
things give off an emanation, which retains the history of the object. As a
result, Buchanan published the results of these experiments in his book,
“Journal of Man.”
During the 1920’s there was a German doctor and physical researcher
Gustav Pagenstecher who believed that a
psychometrist could tune in the vibrations and stored energies of the held object. He had much success with one of
his tested patients named Maria Reyes de Zierold. Maria allegedly placed herself in a meditation state, as she was
able to accurately detail facts of the objects past and present. His work became noticed. Other experiments in later
years inspired scientists to conducted
Further experiments such as William F. Denton, an American Professor of geology who tested his sister with
specimens wrapped in cloth placing the specimens upon her forehead. She was able to accurately describe these
specimens through her vivid metal images.
Now it appears further current studies expound on some of the theories that physical properties of objects may
retain and hold cellular molecular memories. There are many theories and other molecular studies that can be
researched.
Occultists, such as Arnold Crowther believes that psychometry is connected to the belief of animism, which is the
belief that the soul or spirits exists in every object and that inanimate objects have their own memories. Another
advocate, Crowther further describes psychometry using the “soul’s eye” or the “mind’s eye”. It seems the mind
senses and receives the impressions or visions by storing them in the same cerebral center where dreams are
registered. This center would be described as located where the pineal gland is located in the middle of the brain.
Some modern doctors still refer to the pineal gland as the “third eye” that has been known to have many
metaphysical abilities.
Today, many meta physicians practice psychometry in various ways. A good way to start the practice is to
remember to relax and get grounded before the reading. It is also important to remember that there is not a perfect
way to read and to hold the object. Being in a relaxing state is important to read; although, concentration, focusing
on the object is crucial. Everybody comes from a different energy source and retrieve information in different ways.
It is prudent to read with positive intent and not to judge or over analyze what information comes forth.
There are many good referenced sites that explain the history and ways to effectively practice psychometry that is
another fascinating tool that can be use to develop advanced senses.
