Anyone lucky enough to take a trip to Northern California and to see Mount Shasta on a clear day will
certainly create a memory lasting for years. The colors are vivid, spectacular and awe-inspiring. Mount
Shasta is located in Siskiyou County and is not connected to any nearby mountain such as other mountain
ranges. Shasta stands almost 10,000 feet (3,000 m) above the surrounding terrain and is also a 14,162-foot
Cascade volcano rich with stories of folklore and spiritual inhabitants.
There is long history and folklore associated with Shasta
Mountain and it is known to have been home to the oldest
known human living in the area approximately 7,000 years ago.
Throughout the centuries; many Native American tribes lived
within or close to Shasta including the Shasta, Okwanuchu,
Modoc, Achomawi, Atugew, Karuk, Klamth, Wintu and Yanu
tribes.

Certain American Indians believe that the spirit of Chief Skell
who descended from heaven to the mountain’s summit of
Shasta was a very powerful spirit. Many current residents and
visitors convey that Shasta exudes a very powerful, all
knowing energy force to those who experience the mountain.
Perhaps, this may be explained with the preservation of spirits
and history associated with the mountain.
Many European, Spanish, and Gold Rush Settlers discovered and settled at Shasta Mountain during the
mid 1800s. Italian settlers arrived in the early 1900s to work in the mills and as stonemasons,
establishing a strong Catholic presence in the area.

The most astonishing tales are from the stories and legends of mysterious people living inside Shasta
Mountain who are allegedly the descendants of an ancient society from Lemuria. These people are
reported to live deep inside the mountain in rooms that are plated with excessive gold. Lemuria was
noted to be a lost civilization with history going far back as 18,000 years ago. Ancient folklore of the
Lemurians testifies that these people could transport themselves to different dimension and places
such as Atlantis.
Reported sightings of Lemurians describe that these entities have a golf ball size mass that contains a
sixth sense appendage, which enables them to communicate with extra sensory perception between
each other. The protruding mass, known as their six senses extends out of the center of their
foreheads and gives them a unique look. They are also described as being very statuesque, up to
seven feet tall and have long wavy hair. They wear necklaces full of jewels, stones and colorful beads
and their attire includes wearing robes, sandals and other decorative symbols.

Those who have met the Lemurians report that they are very kind and empathetic in nature
and display their higher senses associated with the paranormal with extra sensory
perception. Some explain that the Lemurians have a superior attitude compared to humans.
One man tells his tale of being awakened by a Lemurian after sleeping in Shasta Mountain and he was
then taken inside of a cave covered and lined with masses of gold. The man was informed by this entity
that there were many underground tunnels deep beneath the crust of the earth expelled by volcanoes
that represented different worlds and dimensions.

Some people past and present believe that outer space entities and UFO’s visit the mountain. There
are reports of residents and visitors witnessing strange lights on and around the mountain with no
valid explanation.
Researcher, author and filmmaker Stephen Sindoni attempted to uncover the
great mystery and myth of Lemuria. Sindoni came across the legend of JC
Brown who was a geologist in 1904 reported to have found a tunnel that leads
eleven miles underground to the lost civilization of Lemuria. According to
legend, during the early 1900s, Brown was stated to work for a mining
company out of London and found a tunnel a couple of miles long and found
within it gold and copper plates, ornate states and twenty-seven skeletons.
ranging from six foot six to ten feet in length clothed in robes.

Brown continued his explorations, yet little is known of what happened between 1904, when the cave
was first discovered, and 1934, when the story first appeared in the Stockton Record newspaper and
Brown mysteriously disappeared. He was preparing for an expedition party to fully excavate and
explore what he discovered although the boat never left Stockton Harbor and coincidently, nobody
ever heard from JC Brown after June 19,1934.

Researching the story and history of Brown, Sindoni became convinced that Brown was the alias for
another geologist named JB Body who worked for a mining company associated with other geologists
who initially traveled out for recreation but were re-visited by other geologists working for a mining
company with discoveries of oil and much wealth.

Many authors, poets and even presidents have acknowledged the power, presence and beauty of
Shasta Mountain. Many pieces of art and poems portraying Shasta Mountain have been written and
are currently displayed in many art forms.

Currently, there are many inhabitants from different religions and spiritual views that surround the
Sisikiyou Mountains and celebrate the healing and power of the mountain.

Today, legends pervail, folklore is prevelant and is known to be a part of the charm of Shasta
Mountain.
