What is a residual haunting?
A residual haunting can be an imprint on time and plays back much like a video tape. The playback can be
related to many things but what is seen is not a ghost. It does not interact or acknowledge those who are living
around it. For instance, perhaps someone in their lifetime did the same action at the same time repeatedly for
years, like walking down a hallway. For some reason, that action becomes imprinted and at certain times, under
certain conditions, the playback occurs and can be witnessed.
What is a traditional haunting?
In these types of hauntings, the sprit has the ability to interact and seems to be aware of its surrounds and the
people in the area. The ghost theoretically still retains the personality it had while earthbound. It remains here
because for some reason it didn’t move on after death. This could be due to a sudden death, unfinished
business or it simply likes its surroundings and is connected to the area and the memories there,
Some of these spirits make their presence known by knocking, tapping, slamming doors, moving objects,
turning lights on and of. You may even experience cold chills, cold breezes and smells. You might even catch a
glimpse of the spirit.
It is thought that these spirits may be trying to draw attention to themselves. In some cases, they may be asking
for help to cross over or move on. They may even want to interact or are lonely.

These are ghosts that appear to loved ones usually at the time of death or if the person is near death.

Portals are thought to be doorways through which spirits can pass from one world to the next.

Highly debated. Orbs can also be known as Spirit Orbs. It is believed by some that Orbs are a spirit energy that
is visible only to cameras. They appear on film and digital photos as semi-transparent balls of light. Other
people feel they are nothing but dust particles, water droplets or even bugs which cameras, using flash, pick
up. They are up to interpretation.

These appear as bright streaks, curves or lines in pictures after they are taken. They are not seen with the
naked eye.
What is a ghost light?
This type of phenomena has no single explanation. They can appear randomly or in patterns and can vary in
color from white to yellow to red, to green and even orange. Some even appear to change colors as they are
being watched. They sometimes can be explained by car headlights in the area or gas rising from the earth’s
crust.
